Mythical Skin Collection: I have had conversations regarding the skin we're in for a lifetime. The biases and perceived ideations associated with its tone. The assumptions and conclusions drawn due to its shape.
Our skin and the body it is attached to are often judged before we ever utter a word. This is where my interest in the mythical stories of folklore and symbolism began to intersect. The stories of Mermaids, Deities, and other mythical creatures entrenched with many assumptions based upon the skin they were in. Each artwork is symbolic of just a piece of their skin, a piece of their stories and perceptions that do not cover them as a whole.
When people see you do you think they notice your hair, features, clothes. They dissect the way you talk, your poise, and your gaze. Do they decided how you can be impactful to them before they have engaged with you? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For many we are visual creatures. Even when sight is or is not a sense, we use we utilize our others sense to gain a perception about the people and world around us. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
